Fourier Descriptor을 이용하여 원래의 도형 형태를 변화시킬 수 있다. 특히 그림의 경계(Boundary)를 푸리에(Fourier) 원리를 이용하여 좀 더 간단하게 표현하기도 한다. 푸리에 항을 적게 사용할수록 경계가 간단해진다.
